I’ve announced this everywhere but on my blog

…which only goes to prove how little I think about the blog these days. Ah well, maybe I’ll revive it one day. For now all my writing time is aimed at the third Winston book, which is chugging along decently: I’m hoping to have a passable manuscript by the end of July. I had one of those nasty 4,000-word backtracks a couple of weeks ago, which means I’ll need to pick up the pace a tad if I want to make my self-imposed deadline. But the end of July is still plausible. I think.

Anyway, what I am here to announce is:

I’ll have the crossword in this Sunday’s New York Times. I hope you like it.

Great puzzle! Got stuck on the middle right, but otherwise found it a very satisfying solve. Liked your kid lit clue. And, acorns! Hurray for acorns (my maiden name)!

I heard! In the same fifteen-minute timespan, I heard about that and also about Hawaii, which chose “Puzzling World” for their Nene Award. That was a pretty good fifteen minutes.

Nene Award? Really? What could be more appropriate for a puzzle book?

I know, isn’t that funny? The first words out of my mouth to my editor were, “Wait til my crossword friends hear this!”
